At the Singers’ Christmas Party on 18 December Maureen made the following announcement:
“Sad to say after all these years that I've decided that the Choir will finish as from now. I'd just like to say thank you to all of you for your support over the many years and for your friendship. It has been a privilege to know and lead you but all good things must end sometime and now is the time.”
Iris Kemlo then composed the following:
After forty-odd years of our singing
We've come to the end of the road.
We've sung high and low over Europe
And in Hampshire we're very well known.
But thank you for all of the pleasure
And friendship we've made on Tuesday night.
It's kept us sane and healthy
And our spirits merry and bright.
